How:  Funding of a peer mentoring program with an educational focus. This is an after school program.  
Outcome:  40 children and 5 volunteer mentors participated in 2008

Catholic Community Services

(St. Martha's Baby Layette Project)
Who:  New mothers and infants                                           
How:  Funding to purchase materials needed to provide infant layette items & gift bag to new mothers who have no support system, family, or extended family. This program is provided through a volunteer committee of women who knit, crochet, and sew baby blankets and clothes to be delivered to the new mothers before leaving the hospital. 
Outcome:  412 infants and their mothers assisted in 2008

Center for Grieving Children

Who:  Women, children and families                                    
How:  Provides services to relieve suffering of children, teens, and families who are grieving the loss of a loved one due to death, divorce, or separation. Also provides services to those with anticipatory grief (children with a loved one who is dying).                                                                             
Outcome: 689 individuals received grief support in 2008

Family Counseling Services

Who:  Women, children and families in crisis                       
How:  Strategic funding to provide services to uninsured individuals and families where physical, sexual, and emotional trauma has occurred.                                                            
Outcome: 
582 individuals were provided emergency counseling services in 2008

Family Support Center of Ogden

(Bright Beginnings Program)
Who:  Families                                                                     
How: 
Funding of English/Spanish programs which teach parenting skills, especially for new parents. This is a prevention and early intervention program for families at risk for child abuse.                                                                                
Outcome: 
114 families completed the Bright Beginnings in-home training. Based on scores from a pre- and post-test, 100% of parents increased their knowledge of parenting skills in 2008

Midtown Community Health Center

Who:  Uninsured children                                                   
How: 
Subsidize health care for children coming to the clinic for the first time, without any means of payment.                     
Outcome: 
500 children received medical care in 2008

Ogden Rescue Mission Clinic

Who:  Homeless and anyone without financial means
How: 
Subsidize the purchase of prescription medication and supplies for free clinic.  
Outcome: 
4,572 individuals received assistance in 2008

Ogden School District Foundation

(Colors of Success Program)
Who:  School-age children                                                  
How:  Supports Ogden City Schools gang prevention through a mentoring program for at risk school age children. School activities and community service learning projects are provided during and after school. This funding will be used with matching funds from the State Gang Prevention grant.
Outcome:  138 school age children have stayed in school and participated in the Colors of Success program in 2008

Prevent Child Abuse Utah

(Stop Violence Start Safety Program)
Who:  School-age children                                                  
How:  Provides funding for an intervention program for youth who have been suspended from school for safe school violations, in juvenile court, or have been identified as being at risk for violent or aggressive behaviors.               
Outcome:  150 students completed the program and passed with an average post-test score of 81% in 2008

St. Joseph’s Catholic Schools

Who:  School-age children                                       
How:  Tuition assistance for students who would not otherwise be able to attend a private Catholic school due to financial hardship.                                                                               
Outcome:
6 students received scholarships in 2008

Weber State University   
$4,000
(Women's Center)
Who:  Women students                                                           
How:  Scholarship funding which is channeled through Services for Women Students at Weber State. The scholarship provides tuition assistance for women who would otherwise not be able to attend college.
Outcome: 
2 students per year with a graduation rate of 100%

Weber State University

(TAPT)

Who:  Elementary Education students                                  
How: 
Scholarship funding which is channeled through the Education Department at Weber State University.  The scholarship provides tuition assistance to students in the Teacher’s Assistance Path to Teaching program.
Outcome:  4 students per year with a graduation rate of 100%

Assistance Fund

Who:  Low-income and homeless individuals
How:  The Assistance Fund is distributed by Sister Stephanie Mongeon, OSB, through her work in Pastoral Care at Ogden Regional Medical Center. The Fund provides limited medical resources to individuals experiencing a medical crisis.     
Outcome: 46 individuals assisted in 2008  

Director's Discretionary Fund

2008 Ogden Workcamps: 250 youth volunteers

United Way of Northern Utah, Christmas Box House, Weber/Davis Habitat for Humanity, Children's Justice Center, American Red Cross, Your Community Connection, Enable Industries and other support to the community                                              

Watson Endowment Fund

Who: 
Radiation Therapy student at Weber State University                                            
How: 
Scholarship funding provided by the Dr. Joseph R. Watson Endowment. The scholarship provides tuition assistance to a student in his/her last semester of studies.                           
Outcome: 
1 graduate in 2008
